Mary Catherine Keil, 91, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018. A parish vigil will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. The family will greet friends following the vigil service until 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. The family also will greet friends one hour prior to Mass at the church on Thursday. Graveside services will take place at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa.
Mary was born Aug. 3, 1927, in Jackson County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Foley) Rollinger. She was a 1944 graduate of Maquoketa High School. In 1946, Mary was united in marriage to Ellis Keil in Maquoketa. He passed away in 2000. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. Mary was an avid Hawkeye fan; however, her greatest love of all was her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (John) Hare of Maquoketa, Dianne (Steve) White of Vermont, Ill., and Susan Keenan of Robins; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Joan McClimon of Dyersville, Teresa Welch of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Joe Rollinger of Maquoketa.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ellis; son-in-law, Robert Keenan; and two brothers, Don and Jerry Rollinger.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mary's memory.
