Betty M. Strause, 93, of Holiday, Fla., passed away Sept. 1, 2018. Betty was born in Victor, Iowa, in 1925 and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1943. She lived in Cedar Rapids for 31 years before moving to Aurora, Ill., in 1956. In 1969, Betty and her family moved to Holiday, Fla., to establish the "Tastee Freez" restaurant on Dunedin Beach Causeway, which they successfully owned and operated for 29 years.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Delores N. Runquist; her first husband of 29 years, Arthur McKinley Stone; second husband of five years, Millard M. Jordan; and third husband of 20 years, Donald Richard Strause. Betty is survived by her son, Terry Dee Stone; daughters, Penny Lee Yost (Douglas) and Cindy Sue Smith (Mark); brother-in-law, Delmar Runquist of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sister-in-law, Luella Shimek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Betty was laid to rest in a private service at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens in Palm Harbor, Fla.
