Arla Halverson, 88, of Decorah, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, at her home in Decorah. A private family service will be held at a later date. Schluter-Balik Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Arla is survived by her children, Steve (Deb) Downing, Decorah, Jolene (Kevin) Cagney, Cornelius, N.C., and Amy Downing, Lansing; stepchildren, Heather Ryan, LaGrange, Ill., and Dale "Chip" (Tina) Halverson, Huntington Beach, Calif.; grandchildren, Dan, Kevin and Brian Downing, and Brendan, Kristin and Patrick Cagney; sister, Phyllis (Loren) Blumhagen, Council Bluffs; along with nieces and nephews.
Arla was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Halverson; and parents, Julian "Jack" and Beatrice (Hillestad) Johnson.
