Jimmie D. Bryant, 82, of Coralville, died Tuesday at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, under the compassionate care of hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service with burial to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until services on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Jimmie's memory.

Jimmie Dean Bryant was born Feb. 28, 1937, in Sigourney, Iowa, the son of Dean W. and Iola (Smothers) Bryant. Jimmie worked with his father in the plumbing profession for a number of years before joining the Iowa City Fire Department as a fireman. He returned to the plumbing profession first in business for himself, but later went to work for the University for Iowa where he worked until his retirement. Jimmie was a member of the American Legion and past president of the Eagles Lodge. He was an avid bowler, playing in many leagues over the years. But most of all, he cherished his family and friends.

His family includes his wife, Colleen; his children, James Bryant, Tracey Cope, Cullen Bryant, Michael Bryant and Ronald Bryant; Colleen's children, Bob Untiedt, Bonnie Furne, Ellen Smith, Brenda Mullinex and B.J. Untiedt; and stepchildren, Rick Brockman, Kimberly Brockman, Beau Brockman, Bill Brockman and Kelly Markley; numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and Jimmie's sister, Linda Grantham.
