David Lee King (70) of Cedar Rapids, passed away on December 29, 2023. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2024 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW in Cedar Rapids (Please wear bright colors to this celebration to honor Dave!) A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Brosh Chapel. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery.
Dave was born on July 24, 1953 to William (Bill) and Joanna (Scherrebeck) King. He married DeAnn (Holst) King on January 20, 1973. Dave spent a career working for Custom Hose and Supplies, from 1984 until his retirement. Dave loved barbequing and expanding his culinary pursuits. He bewildered and impressed us all with his appreciation of kimchi, sriracha, and many pickled delicacies.
Dave was the beloved husband to DeAnn and loving father to Thad (Jackie), Toby (Amy), Josh (Jennifer), Joalene (Nic), Nate (Meeka), and Nick. He always felt immensely blessed by his amazing grandchildren, Claire, Noah, Ruby, Hannah, Cadence, Kerstyn, Hayden, Audrey, Colton, Elizabeth, and Livian, and great-grandson Elias; he is also survived by his brother Tim King (Nancy Rawson), brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins, many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents (Bill and Joanna), parents-in-law Jack and Arlene Holst, and brother-in-law (Dale Holst).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in Dave’s name to any cause that reminds you of his love of life, family, community, and faith.
