Shirley L. Votroubek, 94, of Cedar Rapids, passed away at Cottage Grove Place on Thursday December 21, 2023. Shirley was born on June 17, 1929, to Ward and Jeanette (Kocian) Abeny in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1947. On December 11, 1948, Shirley was united in marriage with Leonard C. Votroubek. Together they raised two children, Leland C and Abney K.
Shirley was a homemaker as well as working side by side with Leonard during her life. She enjoyed antique cars and was a member of The Antique Automile Club of America (AACA) and the Hawk A Model A Club.
She is survived by her son, Leland (Denise) of Cedar rapids and daughter, Abney Clark (Tim) Tucson, Arizona, grandchildren: Lance (Jenny Duffy), Kyle (Laura) and Nathan (Beth), great-grandchildren: Louise, Ruth, Kallen, Cora, Grace, Adam, Katelyn, Clayton and Kacy, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jeanne, and her husband.
A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on January 2, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4200 1st avenue NE, Cedar Rapids.
The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and hospice at both Heritage and Cottage Grove Place nursing homes.
