Scott Vanard Schoffstall, 52, of Mechanicsville, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, from complications of Pancreatic Cancer while under the care of the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 23r, from noon to 2 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton and funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial and military honors will conclude at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsville, Iowa. A memorial for Pancreatic Cancer Research in the name of Scott Schoffstall, has been created in lieu of flowers. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Scott, son of Keith V and Susan A Piper Schoffstall, was born on Dec. 3, 1971, in Subic Bay, Philippines. He graduated from Strongsville High School and served his country as a United States Marine. On June 17, 2017, Scott was united in marriage to Joni Ann Van Dorn at the Tipton Fairgrounds. Scott lived in Iowa, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Philippines, Florida and other locations. He worked for different factories, Wal-Mart, Hy-Vee and Amazon until his health declined. He was of the Catholic faith.
Scott is survived by his wife, Joni Schoffstall of Mechanicsville, Iowa; his parents, Keith and Susan Schoffstall of Macedonia, Ohio; his sister, Erin (Mike) McHale and her three children, of Macedonia, Ohio, his stepchildren, Nikki Carlson, Aubrey Carlson, Morgan Carlson and Brandon Carlson; two stepgrandchildren, Dexter Carlson and Sawyer Carlson, and several aunts and uncle. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
