Dash Coffee Roasters closing Marion location
New Cedar Rapids restaurant opens in former Fong’s Pizza location

MARION — A year after it first opened, Dash Coffee Roasters has announced plans to close its second location in Marion.
The coffee shop, opened by Rebecca Weinbrenner at the 170-year-old building previously home to Wit’s End Coffeehouse, will permanently close on Dec. 24.
In a social media announcement thanking customers who supported Dash’s second location, she asked coffee drinkers to rethink their spending.
“I know times are hard right now. If you’re going out, please think about where your dollars are going,” she said. “Keep things local as much as possible. It matters more than you will ever know.”
The move for Dash, which will retain its location in Cedar Rapids’ Kingston Village, was its third attempt to add a new location. Dash previously took over Veritas Cafe for a short stint in 2018, followed by a Northside Iowa City location that lasted from May 2019 to May 2021.
The former reverted to Veritas Cafe, still open today. The latter was purchased by former Dash employees and turned into Tru Coffee in 2021.
