Washington, D.C. needs adults in the room

I feel at this time in my life we are all victims of government, or to put it more precisely, of those in power. While they fight for power within the power structure we must try to understand what their goal is for themselves and our society as a whole. That is not an easy task.
Maybe it would be better to view it as I would perceive a child would react in the situation.
"It's mine and you can't have what I cried so hard to get and fought for, cry and fight like I did, fight for yours. Besides my mom paid for it so I have a right to play with it and besides I don't like the way you play."
Second child: "I want to play with one of your toys. My mom and dad (maybe single parent) try most of the time to buy me toys besides I don't like the way you play either."
One feels like he might have to give up his favorite toy or at most all his toys. While the other child feels upset because he won't share and is feeling left out. "Don't I deserve a toy?
I ask you, what is the solution? Are there no adults in the room? It would be good if we all took a timeout and went to our room to think about it. Even those in Washington, D.C.
