CEDAR RAPIDS — Firefighters responded Tuesday morning to a kitchen fire at a Long John Silver’s restaurant in southwest Cedar Rapids, temporarily closing a street, according to a news release from the Cedar Rapids Fire Department,
Firefighters were called at 8:19 a.m. to 2630 Williams Blvd SW. Smoke was coming out of several parts of the upper level of the building when crews arrived, the release states.
Fire crews entered the building and found a fire in the kitchen area, which they were able to extinguish. No one was in the building at the time — the restaurant opens at 10:30 a.m. — and no injuries were reported.
The building sustained fire, smoke and water damage. The cause of the fire still is under investigation. Williams Boulevard SW in the area was closed for about an hour while crews fought the fire, according to the release.
