Clarence
Margarethe M. Miller, 97, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at the Clarence Nursing Home. A Memorial Service will be held at the Clarence Methodist Church on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Theodora Okine officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Clarence Cemetery.
Margarethe was born Dec. 4, 1926 in Pellworm, Germany, to Lorenz and Luise (Friederike) Clausen. She married Clarence “Bud” Miller on Nov. 22, 1961, in Clinton. He passed away March 20, 2009.
Survivors include her son Al (Sandy) of Clarence; daughters Judy (Steve) Curley of Atalissa and Luise (Don) Jones of Summerville, S.C.; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and her sister Marie of Germany.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a grandson.
Margarethe moved to Iowa by herself from Germany in 1954. She was a lifelong farm wife who enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, working in her large garden, and cooking that she was excellent at.
