Peggy Ann (Walters) Pugmire, 74, passed away on Dec. 11, 2023. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Peggy was born on Feb. 26, 1949, at the Waukon, Iowa, hospital to Leon W. and Dorothy (Lloyd) Walters.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Lisa M. Sherman; brother, Dale F. Walters; sister-in-law, Donna Walters; nephews, Brian C. (Hillerie) Walters, Danny Walters and niece, Dana Walters. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Mikayla M. Sherman; brother, Donald J. Walters; nieces, Kimberly Walters and Karleene Walters; and grandparents, John J. and Stella B. (McNally) Lloyd and Cloy and Ethel (Rush) Walters.
Peggy loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed home remodeling, landscaping projects, walking, hiking, traveling, boating, swimming and craft projects. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Peggy graduated from Regis High School in 1967. She began her employment with Collins Radio Company. She married James W. Pugmire at St. Matthews in Cedar Rapids. They started a general contracting company (Pugmire Quality Homes), where they sold and built prebuilt and conventional built homes of which she was a partner while also retaining her employment with Rockwell Collins. She gave birth to Lisa M. Pugmire (Sherman). Peggy divorced in 1976.
Peggy’s family would like to thank Mercy Medical Center, Hall Perrine and Oldorf Hospice House; especially Dr. Samuel Wood and staff for their tireless efforts during her long term illness.
