Arizona man killed in Johnson County semi crash

An Arizona man has been identified as the semi-trailer truck driver who was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday near Tiffin.
Eric Smith, 55, of Show Low, Ariz, was driving a 2022 Freightliner about 4:30 a.m. Friday on Interstate 80. He was headed westbound near Mile Marker 236 when the truck left the interstate and hit a tree in the ditch, then caught fire, according to the Iowa State Patrol. Smith was killed in the crash.
The State Patrol was assisted in responding to the crash by the Tiffin and Oxford fire departments.
