Paul Franklin Jedlicka was born Jan. 30, 1935, in rural Johnson County, Iowa, the son of Arlo and Emma (Sedlacek) Jedlicka. He attended rural school, St. Mary's School in Iowa City where he met the love of his life and graduated from Lone Tree High School in 1953. On June 2, 1954, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Jean Villhauer at St. Mary's Church in Iowa City. The couple made their home near Solon, where Paul owned and operated a electrical service business for a number of years. The couple and their family moved to rural Hills, where they farmed for many years. Paul also owned a grain truck, which he hauled grain for many local farmers, before retiring in 2000 and moving to rural Iowa City. In retirement, he and Phyllis enjoyed working for a couple local auto dealers transporting cars.
Paul had previously served on the Solon School Board, also a trustee in Liberty Township and has been a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, golfing and driving his John Deere's. Paul was a diehard Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He enjoyed playing various card games with his family and friends. But most of all, he was the epitome of a family man, his family was his world, over 66 years of marriage to his best friend, the many vacations through the years, supporting all his kids in their lives, and when the grandkids came along, well life just couldn't be much better!
His family includes his wife, Phyllis; their children, Joe Jedlicka (Candy), Terry Litscher (Roger) and Doug Jedlicka; grandchildren, Justin Jedlicka (Megan) and Valerie Mastin (Blaine); great-grandchildren, Tanner Mastin, Keegan Mastin, Callie Jedlicka, Colt Jedlicka and Chase Jedlicka; and sisters-in-law, Faye and Irene Jedlicka.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; sister and her husband, Leona and Lawrence Kessler; brothers, Leo and Don Jedlicka; and a grandson, Brett Jedlicka.
