What to know: Iowa has won six of the last seven in this series, but suffered a 77-70 loss in its last trip to Ames, in 2021.
The Hawkeyes are looking to sweep their three in-state foes for the second consecutive year and the fifth time in the last seven seasons. They are 17-2 vs. ISU, Drake and UNI since 2017-18.
Iowa’s Caitlin Clark is a better-than-break-even bet on Wednesday to become the 15th player in NCAA Division-I women’s basketball history to reach the 3,000-point mark for her career. She needs 22 points to get there.
Senior Nyamer Diew (10.7 ppg) is the only major active contributor that was on the Cyclones’ roster last year. Three of the top four ISU scorers (Audi Crooks, Addy Brown and Kelsey Joens) are freshmen, and that rookie class is responsible for nearly 65 percent of the Cyclones’ scoring.
Since its lone loss (Nov. 16 against Kansas State), the Hawkeyes are averaging 97.4 points per game.
In those five games, Kate Martin is averaging 14.6 points per game.
Iowa State is 3-0 at Hilton this season, 1-3 away from Ames.
Iowa Coach Lisa Bluder has accumulated 858 career wins; ISU Coach Bill Fennelly has notched 759. The Hawkeyes own a 12-11 edge in the series since both coaches have been in their present posts.
