Elliott Melvin Olson, 84, of Clermont, Iowa, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Nov. 29, 2023.
He was born on July 7, 1939, to Richard and Rose (Guyer) Olson, who preceded him in death along with his brother-in-law Richard Meyer. Elliott was raised in Clermont and graduated from Clermont High School with the Class of 1957. His boyhood dream was fulfilled when he spent most all his life farming. Elliott enjoyed watching basketball, football and baseball. He also enjoyed listening and dancing to Country music as well as Old Time Rock ’n’ Roll. The last few years he loved having his two cats “Johnny B. Goode” and “Kitty” to keep him company. However, the part of his life that meant the most to him were all his family and friends. He was the happiest when he had a few close friends around to chat with. Every moment of time spent with family was a treasure to him. He especially enjoyed all the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend gatherings with family and friends at the farm. His good sense of humor and his story telling of “days gone by” will be remembered by his family and friends for many years to come. The staff at the Maple Crest Nursing Home in Fayette, Iowa, only had three months of his life to share. However, they easily and lovingly made their way deep into his heart of which the family will be eternally grateful. He is now resting in heaven with his Lord and Savior after his lifetime of faithful work on the farm.
He is survived by his special friend Karen Kjosa (Clermont, Iowa); sister, Ramona Meyer (West Union, Iowa); children, Kevin (Colleen) Olson (Solon, Iowa), Brenda (Scott) Benson (Lutsen, Minn.), Candis (Lester) Wickenhauser (Chaska, Minn.); grandchildren, Shawn (Ashley) Olson, Ashley Olson, Makayla Olson, Cameo (Dan) Lano, Brooke Wickenhauser, Mitchell Wickenhauser; great-grandchildren, Kayden Goldsmith, Kip Goldsmith. Along with many other loving family members.
A visitation and social will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, 9 to 11 a.m., with a small service of remembrance at 11 a.m. at the Clermont Opera House in Clermont, Iowa.
