Lack of photography coverage at women’s sporting events shows imbalance

I was scanning the sports section of the Gazette on Monday, Nov. 27, to get the results of Iowa Hawkeye women in tournament game the previous night. It was in sideline. No photo. Actually there were 13 photos in the sports section and not one of women athletes. Huge splashes for Iowa football, Iowa wrestling and high school basketball. On Saturday there were 15 photos, all male except on page 6, a high school bowler, and page 5, a high school girls’ basketball photo.
Are there no photographers at women’s events? How are we ever going to even the playing field if we rarely get the photo ops?
