Stephen J. Ickes 65, formerly of Marion, Iowa, passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at Florence Home in Omaha, Neb. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 5, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. A Funeral Mass will follow Visitation, with Father Aaron Junge presiding. The burial will be at the Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Marana, Arizona.
Steve was born June 10, 1958, in Lincoln, Neb., the son of Roy and Leona (Wiszmann) Ickes. He graduated from Marion High School in 1976. After graduation, he served in the Unites States Air Force. While in the Air Force, Steve was stationed in Arizona at bases in Tucson and Phoenix and overseas in Greenland, Spain and Turkey. Upon his discharge, he worked as an IT technician and in customer support for office equipment and merchant payment processing equipment.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Leona Ickes of Marion. Survivors include a sister and four brothers; Liz Brooks of Augusta, Ga.; James (Becky Hayes) of Marion; John (Debbie) of Plano, Texas; Joseph (Kelly) of Marion; and Patrick (Amy) of Omaha, Neb.; one niece and four nephews.
The Funeral Mass will be live streamed on the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, Iowa, YouTube page.
