Elaine R. Park, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023, 6:00-8:00pm, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A committal service will be Tuesday, December 5, 2023, 11:00am, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Elaine was born October 1, 1950 in Cedar Rapids to Edwin and Opal Park. She received her Bachelors from the University of Northern Iowa Teaching College. She went on to receive her Masters and Doctorate from the University of Kentucky. She was a school teacher for 40 years, during which time she taught for the University of Kentucky for 4 years, and as a Spanish and Spanish to English teacher in Spain for 4 years.
Along with her strong passion for teaching, Elaine enjoyed Hallmark TV, puzzles, and reading. She especially loved her longstanding Wednesday lunches at Outback Steakhouse with her fellow "Wednesday Ladies".
Elaine is survived by her sister, Patricia Coutentos; nephew, Gary Coutentos; niece, Lynda Ziadeh; close friend, Marie Buhrman; and canine companion, Benji.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lenny Park; and canine companion, Peanut.
Memorial donations may be made in Elaine’s name to any charity of your choosing.
