PHILADELPHIA — For the second straight dual, Zach Glazier took the mat with a chance to secure a dual win for Iowa.
The senior 197-pounder delivered again.
Glazier and heavyweight Bradley Hill closed with back-to-back decisions and No. 4 Iowa defeated University of Pennsylvania, 22-13, Friday night at The Palestra. The Hawkeyes won seven of 10 bouts and improved to 4-0.
Iowa dominated the first half of the dual, but a major decision at 174 and pin at 184 pulled the Quakers within 16-13.
Glazier scored two takedowns, added two escapes and a penalty point for a 9-5 decision over No. 26 Martin Cosgrove. The win put Iowa up by six with an advantage in tiebreaker criteria — more individual victories.
Hill followed with his first win in four matches, beating Cole Urbas, 8-3.
The Hawkeyes won five of the first six matches. Drake Ayala, No. 15 at 125, opened with an 8-7 decision over No. 19 Max Gallagher.
Penn’s No. 13 144-pounder Michael Colaiocco tied the dual at three apiece with a 5-0 win over Jace Rhodes, who wrestled for No. 9 Brody Teske.
Iowa received shutout wins from Real Woods (141) and Victor Voinovich at 149. Jared Franek and Michael Caliendo bracketed the midway intermission with victories at 157 and 165.
Caliendo handled Lucas Revano for a 14-5 major decision that gave Iowa a 16-3 lead.
The Hawkeyes hosts Columbia at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Dec. 8.
