New hires

Holly N. Cushman, CPA, has joined Honkamp, an accounting and business advisory group in Hiawatha, as a principal.

Taimur Hasan has joined U.S. Bank Private Wealth Management in Cedar Rapids as a private wealth adviser.

Mark Koch has joined U.S. Bank Private Wealth Management in Cedar Rapids as a portfolio manager.

Travis Martinek has joined Hills Bank as first vice president, retirement plan officer, in the Cedar Rapids office.

Kudos

The Iowa Association for Justice, the statewide association representing trial attorneys, awarded its 2023 Judicial Achievement Award to Paul Miller, who retired as a 6th District judge earlier this year. The association also named Emily Anderson as its parliamentarian/executive officer. Named to its Board of Governors were Darin Luneckas, Ben Long and Tony Olson, all of Cedar Rapids, and Steven Ballard of Iowa City. Additional or standing members of the Board of Governors are Eric Tindal and Dean Keegan, both of Iowa City. Tom Wertz of Cedar Rapids was named president of the Iowa Foundation for Justice, the association’s public education and community service arm.

MERCY S&P RATING: Standard & Poor’s Global Ratings has reaffirmed Mercy Medical Center’s “A-” credit rating for fiscal 2023. The high rating reflects the credit worthiness and financial performance of MercyCare Service Corp. and its related organizations, including its physician practices and foundation.

PA’S RIBBON-CUTTING: Pa’s Construction will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new office at noon Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 1125 Hubbard Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids. The business, founded in 1990 by Dan Saunders, offers residential and commercial roofing and siding, remodeling, repairs, gutter and deck installation and residential windows.
