Big things, little things and weird things: I’m thankful for them all

Thanksgiving is just around the corner — that "one day" of the year that we think about what we’re thankful for. Here’s my list in no particular order:
Meat! A good hamburger, a roast, a hot dog … whatever kind, I’m thankful for meat.
Bumper cars at amusement parks. Banging into other cars — what a rush.
Potato Salad.
GPS! Thank you to whoever invented this.
Blizzards — the DQ kind only!
The smell of gasoline. I know, that’s weird but …
A good old thunderstorm.
I love those grandkids. Don't you?
Desserts. Anytime, any kind, any place.
Elevators. When's the last time you said thanks to "Otto?"
Salt & Vinegar anything.
Buttered popcorn at the movie theaters.
Healthy foods. I never tried them, but I heard they're good.
Those old songs of the 1960s. Actually, that I grew up in the '60s, the best era of all time.
That first cup of coffee in the morning.
Karaoke. I don't do it often but when I do, I’m Big Bad John.
Looking at Christmas decorations, (but not yet).
Veterans. Thank you, Veterans.
Ringing the bell for Salvation Army. I just feel all fuzzy.
The 5-second rule.
Christmas Eve church services.
Waking up on this side of the sod.
Family board games. (but not Pictionary.)
Iowa's changing seasons.
The great people of Independence, Iowa, where everybody knows your name.
The Geezers. Especially those older than me.
Finally, I'm thankful that my name isn't in the weekly police report … yet.
