On Nov. 20, Sondra Nelson and Clark Weaver will attend their final meeting as School Board Directors of the Linn-Mar school district. They have each dedicated over four decades to Linn-Mar and their honesty, positive attitudes, and dedication to the district will be sorely missed.
Sondra Nelson spent 40 years as a teacher at Bowman Woods Elementary. Following her retirement from teaching, she was twice elected to the school board, where she has served for the past eight years. During this time, Sondra has relentlessly advocated for the good of the district, served as board president, and honorably represented Linn-Mar at city and state functions while also serving on many school board committees.
Clark Weaver taught and coached at Linn-Mar High School for 34 years. Affectionately called “Weave” by those he taught and coached, Clark also has long been an advocate for Linn-Mar. He was elected to two terms on the school board, during which he served as vice president of the board and as a member of the finance and policy committees. Clark’s pride in Linn-Mar served the district well as he advocated for funding for the creation of the district’s two new intermediate schools.
The lifelong work of these two educators and school board members should not go unnoticed. I encourage you to attend the school board meeting on November 20 at 5 p.m. and show our gratitude for two public servants who have given us and our children so much.
