Arthur “Art” James Kelsey, 79, of Cedar Rapids died on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, following a courageous battle with brain cancer. Services will be held in Indiana at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Art is survived by his wife, Joyce Kelsey; daughter, Laura (John) Ludwig of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sons, Chuck (Stephanie) Kelsey of Marion and Greg (Lana) Kelsey of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Joe, Amanda, Sydney, Phillip, Shane, Joel, Marisa and Jolene; siblings, Robert (Kathy) Kelsey, Kati Hasting, Martha (David) Shouldis, David (Pat) Kelsey, Terrance (Kathy) Kelsey; sister-in-law, Liz Kelsey; and many nieces and nephews.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, brother Michael and brother-in-law Jim.
Arthur was born on Sept. 7, 1944, in Monterey, Ind., the son of Charles and Mary Kennerk Kelsey. Art graduated from Monterey Schools, Purdue University in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and from University of Louisville in 1975 with a master’s degree. Art married Joyce Rausch on Dec. 28, 1965, in Winamac, Ind. Art worked at various companies including International Harvester, Hyster and Lake Erie Screw as a plant manager and retired in 2007.
Art enjoyed cycling, gardening, traveling, baking, watching football, reading and solving crossword puzzles.
