CEDAR RAPIDS -- A Cedar Rapids woman was arrested Saturday on a warrant after police say she started a fire in an apartment building in August.
Brenee Richele Andrew, 31, is charged with first-degree arson. According to a criminal complaint, she was seen starting a fire in the hallway of an apartment building at the Hawthorne Hills Apartment complex on C Street SW in Cedar Rapids. The complaint showed Andrew was living “at large,” but she has since filed affidavit showing she lives in a southwest Cedar Rapids apartment miles away from Hawthorne Hills.
The fire was started Aug. 8, and a warrant was issues for Andrew’s arrest. She was taken into custody Saturday and had her first appearance in court over the weekend. She is being held on a cash-only $25,000 bail.
