Polling Morality -- Open Thread

May. 31, 2011 10:35 am
Welcome back, three-day weekenders.
Gallup has some fascinating numbers today from a poll of Americans on moral issues, a "Values and Beliefs" poll.
Looks like most of us think extramarital affairs, polygamy and human cloning are no-nos. Pornography is morally wrong for most, but it's more acceptable to the younger set.
We're mostly morally ok with divorce, embryonic stem cell research and the death penalty. A majority thinks gay and lesbian realtions are morally acceptable, but we're split on doctor-assisted suicides.
I thought the most fascinating stuff was the difference in attitudes between youngs and olds.
These kids, with all their tolerance and sexy gambling and surprising affinity for fur.
I thought this might spark some discussion while I try to remember what it was that I did before I left Friday.
