City High locks down briefly after shots fired

IOWA CITY — Iowa City police responded Wednesday afternoon to a call about shots being fired near City High School, causing the school to briefly go on lockdown.
The call came at 3:36 p.m. for an incident in the 1800 block of High Street, according to a police news release. Officers found evidence of shots fired at the scene, and because of the proximity to the high school the school went into a temporary lockdown.
The incident remains under investigation and the police department has not released any additional information.
