Alberta Margaret Light, 98, of Lisbon, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. Visitation: 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, at the Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial: Lisbon Cemetery.
Alberta Light was born on July 13, 1925, in Linn County, the daughter of Albert and Leona (Mohn) Gaines. She was united in marriage to Marvin Light on Oct. 22, 1949, in Illinois.
Alberta devoted her life to raising her children. She loved to attend the family’s sporting events and would occasionally get “a little rowdy.” As you all know, she was a feisty woman.
Alberta is survived by her children, Ronnie (Nardina) Light, Richard (Barb) Light, Reona (Tom) Ewald, Ronda (Dale) Conner, Randy (Cindy) Light, Rudy (Penny) Light, Rozan (Gary) Benson; 32 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and cat Roxie.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Leon Gaines; granddaughter, Teresa; and great-grandchildren, Charlie, Quincey, and Waylin.
