Moe will bring knowledge base to IC infrastructure, community planning

Well over half of our Iowa City budget is used for construction and to develop our infrastructure. That includes the capital improvements fund, a large portion of the enterprise fund, and portions of the special Revenue and General Fund. In the next five years, Iowa City will spend $253 million from the Capital Improvements fund alone. Those are our tax dollars, and that’s a lot of money. I’m not convinced recent city decisions have been the best. They seem to lack the fortitude to lead for the next generation.
Luckily, in this current crop of council Candidates, I have come across Josh Moe. Moe is running at-large, and seems to understand the need for efficient and effective investments in order to have something that we’re all proud of.
Moe is an architectural manager who has spent his professional career in planning, design, contracting, and construction. That’s the knowledge base we need as Infrastructure and capital improvements are made. Real professional experience, working for the people!
City-owned public spaces like rec centers, parks, pools, city hall, and the senior center are a top priority for many Iowa Citians, including me. What I like most about Moe is how he understands that quality community spaces can make us happier, healthier and proud. It takes consensus, creativity and a long-term vision to get the job done.
I’m voting for Josh Moe for Iowa City Council on Tuesday. If you care about your tax dollars and our community spaces, you should too.
