Elsie Rae Patterson, 93, of Cedar Rapids passed away Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, at Mechanicsville Specialty Care. Funeral Service: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Dr. Tim Chavers officiating. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Elsie was born on Nov. 10, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Ray E. and Elsie M. (Christoffersen) LeMont. She graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids.
Elsie married James LeRoy Patterson Nov. 5, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and they enjoyed 67 years together. James preceded her in death in 2018.
Elise enjoyed oil painting, creating many barn scenes. She also liked to sew, was an avid reader, and also made wonderful desserts. She also enjoyed visiting her children and grandchildren. Elsie was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
Elsie is survived by two daughters Paula Patterson and Pamela (Don) Heckman; one son, James R. Patterson; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband James; daughter Patricia Camarata; and siblings Richard LeMont, Margrethe J. “Marge” Hitchens, and Robert LeMont.
Memorials may be directed to Hope Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
