But will they have to eat at Pizza Ranch?

Bob Vander Plaats tells the Christian Broadcasting Networkthat his group, the Family Leader, is rolling out a 14-point marriage pledge for presidential candidates to sign, sort of a prenup, I guess. And if they don't, no Vander endorsement for them.
From CBN:
Some of the 14 points within the document are as follows:
- Personal fidelity to his/her spouse
- Appointing faithful constitutionalists as judges
- Opposition to any redefinition of marriage
- Support for the legal advocacy for the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA)
- Humane efforts to protect women and children, (sex trafficking, pornography, etc.)
- Rejection of anti-women Sharia Islam
- Commitment to downsizing government because of the burden to the American family
Not surprising, I guess. But what's with Republicans and all the pledging? There's the new "Cut, Cap and Balance" pledge. There are various no tax increase pledges and assorted Tea Party vows. Politico dubbed it "pledge fatigue."
Certainly, without these very important pieces of paper, I'm sure they'd all run off wild-eyed and raise taxes, ban guns and embrace Sharia law.
What is it that Republicans know about other Republicans that makes them want everything in writing? Share.
Pledge allegiance to the flag, the Constitution, your constituents, your personal principles. There's also that oath of office. But don't swear unshakable allegiance to every special interest group that waves a politically loaded vow under your nose. I don't care if you do get a free pen. Kudos to the first Republican who tells BVP no thanks.
I'm sure most will sign as fast as possible. After all, Vander Plaats is one of the 10 most coveted GOP endorsements.
And marital fidelity? If the vows people take in front of their spouse don't ward off cheating, and in many cases they don't, I seriously doubt a Family Leader pledge is going to do the job.
So what's making you swear these days? Share.
