Representing Linn-Mar with respect and honor
Justin Foss
Oct. 29, 2023 5:00 am
I’m Justin Foss and I want to give back to our community by serving on the Linn-Mar Community School Board.
My wife and I moved to the area 10 years ago specifically for this school district. We have two kids — one in middle school and one in elementary school. Both have gone to Linn-Mar for their entire education. I have a strong connection to this district. My children and my family will experience first hand the decisions the board makes.
I will represent the district with respect and honor. I have volunteered in the schools since my 7th grader was in kindergarten. I have poured ketchup at lunches, read books during class, cleaned up after school carnivals, chaperoned field trips, taught kids to ride bicycles during the bike rodeo and volunteered on the sidelines at football games.
I believe the District has more opportunities for growth and improvement so we can continue delivering a top-notch educational experience for our kids.
I believe that the board members are stewards of the budget and operations of the Linn-Mar district and they need to take this role seriously for the benefit of the students we are obligated and honored to serve, and our taxpayers.
I believe all students should have an excellent education, a safe and supportive school environment and opportunities to help them thrive in academics, sports, music and other activities.
I believe our teachers and staff need support and resources to provide the education our kids need and deserve.
I will bring my experience in project management and volunteerism to the school board. I have worked for Alliant Energy for the last 13 years. I negotiate contracts and manage multimillion dollar projects across Iowa. I am a Project Management Professional and I earned my masters of business administration. In 2019, I was selected as one of the Corridor Business Journal's 40 under 40.
My community involvement includes serving on the executive board of the Boy Scouts of America Hawkeye Area Council, youth baseball coach, hockey referee, Linn-Mar School Foundation volunteer, confirmation mentor at our church and Junior Achievement volunteer. When I’m not working or volunteering, I enjoy cheering on my kids at their sporting and fine arts events, playing hockey, flying, and tinkering with my classic car.
I’m committed to helping every Linn-Mar student receive a world-class education.
Strong schools for strong futures.
Justin Foss is one of eight candidates running for four at-large seats on the Linn-Mar school board.
