Meet today’s needs and solve tomorrow’s challenges

I am a Linn-Mar graduate and a mom to six Linn-Mar graduates. I married my Linn-Mar High School sweetheart. Our children married Linn-Mar graduates. As you can imagine, the Linn-Mar community is very important to our entire family.
We are proud of the education and opportunities we have received. I have a master’s degree in theology with a concentration in children and family ministries. My husband graduated from the Air Force Academy and is a physician in the area. Our children now work in health care, administration, legal services, and assisting those with special needs. All are thriving as they raise their own families and households. Our oldest child began preschool in 1989 and our youngest graduated from college in 2022. We currently have one child attending medical school and three grandchildren attending Linn-Mar.
I have been a PTO/PTA co-leader in three different schools when my children attended elementary schools. I volunteered in the classroom, went on field trips, coordinated volunteers for show choir events, hosted cast parties, and volunteered for events including prom and grad nights. I still go through carpool lines and attend school events to support my grandchildren.
Why am I seeking a seat on the school board?
My childhood was influenced by a legacy leader, my father, George Lowe. He loved to learn and encouraged others to learn. He challenged me to put my education to work to serve my neighbor beginning in my high school years. My desire to be elected to the school board is at the heart of who I am, a mother, daughter, sister, spouse, granddaughter, ally, friend, neighbor, leader, and servant. I am deeply loyal and willing to serve the Linn-Mar Community School District. My goal is to link my deep roots in the Linn-Mar CSD to the need for collaborative leadership on the school board. With my background, I will advocate for all students, their families, educators, and staff and work together to meet today’s needs to solve tomorrow’s challenges.
Katie Lowe Lancaster is one of eight candidates running for four at-large seats on the Linn-Mar school board.
