IOWA CITY — Iowa women’s wrestling released the schedule Monday for its inaugural 2023-24 season.
As the first Power Five women’s wrestling program and one of the few Division I programs in the country, many of the Hawkeyes’ matches will be against lower-level competition. The NCAA has not recognized women’s wrestling yet, so the Hawkeyes will compete in the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships this season.
The Nov. 12 Trailblazer Duals will be against the other of the first four Division I schools to sponsor women’s wrestling — Sacred Heart, Lindenwood and Presbyterian.
The Hawkeyes will compete in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City corridor four times in the inaugural season — Nov. 12 for the Trailblazer Duals in Iowa City, Dec. 29-30 for the Soldier Salute in Coralville, Jan. 21 for a yet-to-be-announced duals matchup in Iowa City and March 8-9 for the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships in Cedar Rapids.
