Iowa needs federal permitting reform

During my time as a steward of the land and advocate for Iowa’s agriculture industry, I’ve seen firsthand the need for a reformed permitting process that unleashes domestic energy production. The federal permitting process is overburdensome and covered in bureaucratic red tape. At the end of the day, this discourages economic development in Iowa and nationwide. By streamlining regulatory processes, we can create a more business-friendly environment for private investors to channel funds into energy production and rural infrastructure improvements.
I applaud Sens. Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst for working to pass NEPA reforms earlier this year that will grow our all-the-above energy economy, and encourage them to continuing working to pass broader bipartisan permitting reform to create a more efficient system that will spark innovation and expedite renewable energy projects in Iowa which will further the goal of energy independence. A streamlined permitting process will advance the energy economy and protect American energy innovation.
