Evelyn Katherine Simmer Stumph, 101, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at West Ridge Care Center. A private burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Evelyn was born Sept. 24, 1922, to her parents, Iva and William Simmer on the family farm in Atkins, Iowa. She, and her four siblings worked the farm along with their parents and grew up with an amazing work ethic.
Evelyn married Robert Stumph in 1946 in Sterling, Ill., and together they raised their two daughters in Atkins in a house that Robert built. Evelyn was an avid gardener and a prize-winning baker but her love of those things dwarfed in comparison to the love she had for her family. Evelyn worked at Collins Radio for 19 years and was quite proud of the work she accomplished there.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Reddick and Kathy Tusing; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Reinhold Simmer, Doris Hirsch, Iva Fishel and Nadine Weed; a son-in-law, Allan Reddick; and a great-granddaughter, Lyric Starr.
