Bea (Beulah) L. Lindley Blanchard, born May 29, 1936, to Henry L. and Ruby B. (Blount) Lindley of Prarieburg, Iowa. She attended Boulder Township one room schoolhouse, followed by Central City, Iowa High School where she excelled and graduated at age 16. Her first paying job was at Central City Newsletter working as a typist.
Preceding her in death are her brothers, Junior Lindley, Darrel Lindley, Gene Lindley, Harley Lindley, O. Kenneth Lindley, Rollo Lindley and Howard Wilson; and sisters, Lavonne Grove, Valore Pierce, Althea Ballard, Francis Hart and Mary Lou Gottschalk.
Her youngest sister, Cleta Endecott resides in Cedar Rapids; and her sister-in-law, Kay (Gene) Lindley resides in Marion. Beulah maintained a close relationship with her cousin Sharon Kirby of Cedar Rapids.
She married Clarence Bailey in June 1953. Her children born during the marriage are Darce (Charles) Vollmer Augusta, Ark., Christine Jerome, Center Junction, Michael (Kathy) Bailey Cedar Rapids, Scott (Vanessa) Bailey, Russellville Ark., Donna (Johnny) Williams, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kayla (Bill) Miller, Albuquerque, N.M.
Married to William D. Berryhill in 1971, her son Billy was born to that union. William B. Berryhill (Maily) Colorado Springs, Colo. Bea was preceded in death by the love of her life, Kenneth R. Blanchard. She had the blessing of being “Mom” to his two sons, Robin Blanchard, Carlsbad, N.M., and Mark (Brenda) Blanchard San Antonio, Texas.
Bea spent the greater part of her career in Colorado at Widefield High School, Widefield, Colo., and Harrison High School, Colorado Springs, Colo., where she influenced the lives of students and gained the admiration of colleagues.
Bea was the Queen of Cakes! Baking and decorating with an artistic eye hundreds of specialties for family, friends and admirers of her talent.
She enjoyed her flower beds and often would share the abundance with neighbors and schoolchildren that wanted some of the blooms for their teachers.
She was the head cheerleader for her sons Mike, Scott and Bill when they competed in sports and later continued to attend games and cheer on many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She left for her Heavenly home Oct. 3, 2023, and will continue to be loved by 9 children, 25 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Cremation took place in Colorado Springs, Colo., and she forever will be remembered at All Saints Cemetery, Prairieburg, Iowa, where a headstone will be set in her honor.
