Teresa L. Shelton, 62, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Oct. 7, 2023, peacefully in her home after a long courageous battle with cancer. A private family service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Teresa was born March 16, 1961, to Dale and Jean (Thorson) Rich in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1979. She was united in marriage to Jaime Shelton on May 30, 1980. Their union was blessed with two children, Maria and Stephanie. She attended Kirkwood Community College for several years, learning accounting. Teresa was a stay-at-home mom until her children were grown, and then began working for Kennedy High School and later as a CSM for Wal-Mart before retiring in 2015. During her time at Wal-Mart, Teresa made many friends she enjoyed traveling with and catching up at suppers. She enjoyed traveling with her family and took many trips, she enjoyed camping, she loved to cook for her family and enjoyed sewing gifts to give her loved ones. She was an avid Hawkeyes fan and played Cribbage every night. She loved adventure and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Those left to cherish Teresa’s memory are her husband, Jaime; daughters, Maria Shelton and Stephanie McCluskey; grandson, Caden Klein; sister, Kim (Mark) Malmer; parents-in-law, Fred and Evelyn Shelton; brother-in-law, Eric (Kerry) Shelton; sister-in-law, Julie (Dennis) Kiedyk; brother-in-law, Brett Shelton; and brother-in-law, Tim (Wendy) Shelton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Jean Rich; and her beloved chihuahua, Peanut.
