CEDAR RAPIDS — Independence, Manchester, Vinton, Cedar Rapids and Anamosa are included in a frost advisory issued for Monday morning.
“Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered,” the National Weather Service warned in a Sunday afternoon weather statement. “Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.”
The advisory includes Buchanan, Delaware, Dubuque, Benton, Linn, Jones, Jackson, Clinton. Mitchell, Howard, Winneshiek, Allamakee, Floyd, Chickasaw, Fayette, Clayton, Winnebago, Worth, Hancock, Cerro Gordo, Franklin, Butler, Bremer, Hardin, Grundy, Black Hawk, Marshall and Tama counties in Iowa. Forecasters said temperatures falling into the mid-30s overnight will lead to the formation of frost.
Overnight low temps in the 30s to 40s will promote frost potential late tonight into early Mon AM, especially for areas of NE IA. A more widespread frost/freeze is then expected early Tues AM. Be sure to cover or bring any sensitive plants inside.#iawx pic.twitter.com/ImbKLE9t4C
