Priscilla A. (Bushaw) Rinderknecht, 78, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Oct. 6, 2023, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids after an 18-month battle with gallbladder cancer. A visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 9, 2023, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral service on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, 11 a.m., at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with Pastor Darin Ulmer of Community Baptist Church of Marion officiating.
Priscilla accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord at an early age. One of her favorite verses was Romans 10:9 – That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Priscilla was born March 30, 1945, and grew up on a farm near Edgewood, Iowa. She graduated from EdCo HS in 1963, U of I in 1967 with a teaching degree and from NE Missouri State (Truman State) with a Master’s degree in 1971. While at the U of I she was a Scottish Highlander. She taught for 35 years in the Cedar Rapids School system.
In December 1972 she married Don Rinderknecht and they have celebrated over 50 wonderful years together. Don and Priscilla attended many Hawkeye games of most sports, including many bowl games.
Priscilla is survived by her husband, Don; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Kerlene Bushaw; sister-in-law, Betty Ann Madan; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Scott Bruntjen; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen Bushaw; brothers-in-law, James Madan and David Rinderknecht; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Sandy Rinderknecht; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Irene Rinderknecht; and three cats, Herky, Hawkeye, and Callie.
Special thanks to the Oncology departments at Mayo and PCI, who became great friends along with providing excellent care. Also, to the 5th floor at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital.
Memorial donations may be made in Priscilla’s honor to Community Baptist Church of Marion or a charity of your choosing.
