Sharon Lea Otting, 83, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, with visitation after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Inurnment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting with arrangements.
Sharon was born on June 22, 1940, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Ida (DeShaw) Otting. She was a 1958 graduate of Marion High School and went on to attend Mt. Mercy University. She was an elementary school teacher for many years in Marion before retirement and belonged to numerous teacher organizations. Sharon was an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and sang in the St. Joseph Funeral Choir. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by numerous friends including John and Susan Leland; Sunisa Roberts; Bonnie Meggers; and Sandy Kovarik, all of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Kenneth Otting.
