Joyce (Miller) Denslow passed away peacefully on Sept. 8, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born Mildred Joyce Miller in North English on Aug. 10, 1931, to Lawrence and Elizabeth (Kimmel) Miller, joining her two older siblings, Larry and Betty. She had many far-flung adventures in her life, but always cherished growing up in a small Iowa town.
Following her graduation from the University of Iowa, she traveled around the US and to parts of Europe. She taught elementary school in Iowa City and in Colorado, where she earned her M.A. in library science and met her husband, Dan. They shared many more adventures and made their home in northern Alaska in a small Eskimo village. After the loss of her husband, Joyce returned to live in her childhood home with her daughter, Corie. Prior to retiring, she served as the elementary school librarian.
Joyce loved gardening, books, biking, traveling and staying connected with family and friends. She will be remembered for her bright smile, love for nature, overflowing bookcases and genuine interest in everyone she met.
