Albert Scott Hammond, 83, of Atkins, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, became a silent key KØHWE on Sept. 12, 2023.
Al had many interests and pursuits during his lifetime. He had three wishes. Number one was amateur radio. Second, getting the job at Collins Radio after High School. He continued to go back to see if they had openings, and eventually he succeeded. He worked at Collins for 37 and-a-half years until he retired. His last wish was getting married and starting a family. He was helpful to all who knew him.
Preceded in his death are his parents, Christian Albert Hammond and Maurine Elizabeth (Summers) Hammond.
Al is survived by his wife, Agnes M (Fisher) Hammond, of 61 years; his daughter, Teresa; son, Charles (Traci) Hammond; grandson, CJ Hammond; two brothers and a sister.
Per his wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Mercy or the family.
