Patricia A. Jones, 93, died peacefully Monday, Sept. 25, 2023.
Graveside committal will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, at St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City. Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 1, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. The Rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Friends of the Animal Center Foundation or St. Patrick’s Church.
Pat was born on Nov. 6, 1929, in Iowa City, the daughter of Hal and Mary (Guthrie) Bayless. She grew up in Cedar Falls, moving to Iowa City in 1948. On Nov. 11, 1956, Pat married Thomas Jones in Iowa City.
Pat received her RN degree from the University of Iowa and was a registered nurse at UIHC for 14 years. After several years raising children, Pat returned to work as a unit clerk at Mercy Hospital for 16 years, retiring in 1994.
Pat was a member of St. Patrick’s Church. Her social clubs included Needleworkers, Red Hat Ladies, and the TTT Chapter. She volunteered at Mercy Hospital in the gift shop and later at the Crowded Closet. Pat was well-known for her baking.
Pat is survived by her two sons, Chris Jones of West Branch and Michael (Jen) Jones of Coralville: and her five grandchildren, Taylor, Avery, Ryan, Evan, and Megan.
She was preceded by her parents; her husband Tom; her son Tim; and her sister Jean.
