IOWA CITY — Make it a High Five for the Iowa Hawkeyes’ 2024 women’s basketball recruiting class.
Aaliyah Guyton, a 5-foot-8 guard from Peoria, Ill., announced her commitment to the Hawkeyes on Monday.
Guyton ranks as the No. 57 prospect in this year’s senior class. She selected the Hawkeyes over Illinois, Michigan State, Nebraska and Pittsburgh.
The daughter of former Indiana University and NBA player A.J. Guyton, Aaliyah averaged 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.1 steals per game last season as Peoria went 29-4.
Guyton’s decision gives the Hawkeyes five commitments — including four top-100 prospects, according to ESPN — for 2024.
Ava Heiden (6-foot-4 post, Sherwood, Ore.) ranks No. 36, Teagan Mallegni (6-0, guard, McFarland, Wis.) is 64th, Taylor Stremlow (5-8, guard, Verona, Wis.) is 88th. The class also includes Callie Levin, a 5-10 guard out of Solon.
As of Monday, no other program has more that two top-100 commits for 2024.
Iowa has 14 players on its roster for 2023-24, and at least three key players (Kate Martin, Gabbie Marshall and Molly Davis) will use up their eligibility after the season.
Caitlin Clark told The Gazette in August that she was “a 6 (on a scale from 1 to 10)” to return in 2024-25. If she does — and if nobody else departs or enters — the Hawkeyes will have a roster of 16.
The NCAA women’s basketball scholarship limit is 15.
