Randy D. Hampton, 78, of Iowa City, died on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, at Mercy Hospital. Graveside services have been held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City. Donations can be made to the Randy Hampton Endowed Scholarship at Mount Mercy University.
Randy was born on May 11, 1945, in Salem, Ore., the son of Art and Connie (Wilkinson) Hampton. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids. Randy was enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1967-69 during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Iowa City, Kappa Gamma Pi and the National Catholic Honor Society. Randy worked for over 30 years as the senior accountant for Hupp Electric Motors in Cedar Rapids.
Randy is survived by his good friends, Kris and Charles Rutledge of Swisher, Iowa; and four sisters, Kristy, Gayle, April and Emily Hampton.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Robert.
