Illinois man faces sex abuse charge in Cedar Rapids

Sep. 14, 2023 3:10 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS — An Illinois man was arrested this week on two counts of third-degree sexual abuse.
Allen Reynolds, 35, of Harvey, Ill., is accused of sexually abusing a woman once in December and once in January at a Cedar Rapids apartment, both times while the woman was “unable to give consent due to being asleep and/or intoxicated,” a criminal complaint states.
According to the Linn County complaint, the woman did not remember the incidents, but Reynolds admitted to her he had performed sexual acts on her while she was incapacitated. She told police she did remember being with him at the time of both incidents.
He also said in a text message he was sorry for taking advantage of her, according to the complaint.
The woman told investigators that Reynolds gave her a sexually transmitted disease and that she hadn’t wanted to be intimate with him because she knew he had an STD, the complaint states.
A warrant was issued for Reynolds’ arrest in June, and he was booked in the Linn County Jail on Wednesday. He had his first appearance in Linn County District Court on Thursday and is being held on a $15,000 bond. A no-contact order has been filed on behalf of the woman.
