Iowa high school football rankings: The Gazette’s post-Week 3 poll
North Scott takes over the No. 1 spot in Class 4A; Lynnville-Sully is tops in Class A

The revolving door in Class 4A football is now in full swing.
For the second straight week, there’s a new No. 1 in that class in The Gazette’s weekly poll.
North Scott is the new 4A top-ranked team — unanimous, in fact — after three of last week’s top four (Adel ADM, Western Dubuque and North Polk) took a hit.
One of only six remaining unbeatens in 4A, the Lancers remained unscathed with a 42-28 victory over Davenport Assumption.
They certainly will be tested in the next three weeks, at Western Dubuque on Friday, then at Cedar Rapids Xavier in Week 6.
Ranked No. 1 before a Week 2 loss to Williamsburg, Xavier is back up to No. 2 in 4A after topping Western Dubuque, 22-20, Friday. The Bobcats are tied for fifth this week.
Lewis Central moved up to third after its 38-31 win over ADM, which dropped to fourth. Bondurant-Farrar is tied with Western Dubuque for fifth.
There’s another new top-ranked team, in Class A.
Saint Ansgar’s 24-15 win over former No. 1 West Hancock opened the door, and the new first-place votes are cut three ways.
Lynnville-Sully (one first-place vote) moves to the top with 55 poll points, followed by Saint Ansgar (three, 51) and Woodbury Central (two, 49).
There wasn’t much shifting at the top of the other five classes.
Southeast Polk and West Des Moines Dowling remain the cream of Class 5A. The Rams walloped Cedar Rapids Prairie, 42-7, while the Maroons took care of Ankeny, 35-14.
Bettendorf, which was 3-6 last year, continued to climb with a convincing win over Urbandale and is No. 3.
Williamsburg, Mount Vernon and Harlan remain the top three teams in 3A. Mount Vernon hosts its annual grudge match with Solon this week.
Van Meter and Central Lyon-GLR are still 1-2 in 2A, with both teams receiving three first-place votes. The latter is one of four 2A District 1 teams in the top 10, joining No. 3 West Lyon, No. 4 Western Christian and No. 8 Cherokee.
In 1A, Grundy Center, MFL MarMac and Underwood are still the top three teams. Iowa City Regina made a four-spot leap to No. 4, and Denver is up five slots to No. 5.
Gladbrook-Reinbeck, Winfield-Mount Union and Anita CAM are 1-2-3 in 8-Player.
