Barbara “Barb” Lou Ralston, 91, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha surrounded by her loving family. There will be a private family service at a later.

Barbara Lou was born on Jan. 2, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of William Fredrick Webster and Blanche Irene (McBain) Webster. She graduated from McKinley High School in January of 1950. Barbara was united in marriage to Calyle George “Red” Ralston on Oct. 29, 1950, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, crafts and reading. She was a member of the Cedar Rapids Eagles Club 2272 Auxiliary. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barb will be greatly missed by all who knew her, loved her and her beautiful smile.
Survivors include son, Gordon “Corky” (Marsha) Ralston of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Kristine (Chuck) Rutledge of Swisher; her grandchildren, Gordon Jr. (Jen) Ralston of Palo, Michele (Rob) Brown of Solon, Brooke Ralston of Summerville, S.C., and Heather (Dylan) Sanderson of Portland, Ore.; her great-grandchildren, Tori Gregory, Ashley Johnson, Caleb Ralston, Noah Ralston, Rosilyn Christenson, Brittany Brown, Brooke Brown and Hunter Brown; her brother, Everett Jr.,(Corinne) Sterns of Cedar Rapids and sister in-law, Lois Ralston of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Calyle ‘Red” Ralston, in 2011; brother, William ‘Bill” Webster; sister in-law, Julia Webster; sister in-law, Virginia Bohannan; and brother in-law, Larry Ralston.
The family would like to say thank you to West Ridge Care Center of Cedar Rapids, Mercy Hospital Cedar Rapids and Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Hiawatha for the wonderful care Barb received these past few months.
