Gregory A. Cirves, 83, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, in Hiawatha, Iowa, among the presence of his family. A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 4011 Major Ave. Madison, Wis. Inurnment followed at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park, 401 Femrite Dr., Monona, Wis. Visitation was held at 10 a.m. at St. Luke’s prior to the funeral service.

Survivors include his two daughters, Anne Cirves of Anamosa and Jennifer Cirves of Cedar Rapids; his two sons, Christopher (Susan) of Lone Tree, Colo., and David of Cedar Rapids; and his brother, Gary (Teresa) of Maquoketa, Wis. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jesse and Christopher Kyle; and Alexander, Evan, Margaret, Robert and Jason Cirves; along with two great-grandchildren, Vander and Rune Cirves.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Garey; and his wife, Eileen R. McCaughey.

Greg was born on March 2, 1940, in Madison, Wis., the son of Elmer and Gladys Borquist Cirves. He married Eileen on Jan. 28, 1967, in Madison, Wis. Greg was an electrical engineer at Cirves Electric followed by Square D/Schneider Electric. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Cedar Rapids. Greg enjoyed hydroplane racing, reading and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice in Greg’s name.
